Michelle Alexander
"All art is autobiographical. The pearl is the oyster's autobiography". - Frederico Fellini
Michelle Alexander is primarily a self-taught abstract painter. She enjoys being a student of art and life, learning something new every day. Alexander has a unique view and love of color and texture. She pushes her art in new directions. "My goal is to create things that I've never seen before - works that do not look generic but something new, fresh, and exciting," she says. Her goal is to create works that bring about a positive visceral connection with the viewer. She not only creates unique individual pieces but also commissioned works as well.
Working with acrylics and mixed media provide Alexander freedom and flexibility. She says the medium allows her to be completely spontaneous. "Art distills life into juicy bits that we can contemplate, devour and enjoy. It liberates me!" she says. Alexander has moved from NC to Colorado, and then back to 'home' in NC with her husband, youngest son, (two other sons are all grown up), and two odd cats. A nod to their beloved dog, Rune, that sadly has passed away.
Michelle took a sabbatical for a time, but will be returning to painting shortly, so stay tuned!
